One of the most rewarding things about doing boudoir photography is hearing great feedback from our clients (I mean who doesn’t love a little positive reinforcement?).  Many people come in with the goal of giving someone a gift of intimate photographs of themselves, and we are always tickled to hear about the follow-up stories.  The lovely Ms. N was kind enough to share her experience with us.  She and her husband went away for the weekend for his 40th birthday, and this is what she had to say:

“HE LOVED THE PICTURES!!!!!  He couldn’t believe that I (Mrs. HATE having her picture taken) would do them.  He has told all his friends, coworkers, and even a few coffee stand girls about his gift.  He can’t wait to come back in and see more.  Thank you again for all that you guys did.  I am sending you the pics of his expression (sooooo funny).”

And yep, you guessed it, here are the photos.  This is one happy birthday hubby!

Passionately Pink Boudoir Fundraiser – lets fight breast cancer together

This is without a doubt the most awesome blog I have had the honor of writing so far at Seattle Boudoir Photography.  All of us here are committed to giving back to our community, and obviously that community includes a lot of women!  We certainly wouldn’t be here without all the strong, sassy, kind, intelligent, active women that we work with who bring their beautiful fearlessness to the studio.  Along with these women, we also see a lot of ‘girls,’ if you know what I mean :)     They come in every size, shape and color that you can think of, and they are often an important part of our clients’ femininity and sensuality.

With all that in mind, we decided to put together a fundraiser for both survivors of breast cancer and their biggest fans by doing what we do best – boudoir!  Our goal is to create a safe, fun, nurturing space for anyone and everyone who wants to get involved with this amazing project.  Whether you are a survivor of a double mastectomy, have never had cancer, or have watched a loved one go through the experience, we invite you to book a session at our Passionately Pink boudoir fundraiser event. The best part is that 100% of the profit will go directly to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Puget Sound foundation, but coming in at a close second is the dose of sexy confidence that you will surely come away with after the session.  Oh!  And you also get an 8×10 of your favorite photograph.  We’ve got specific details about the fundraiser up on the website, so click here to find out more.  Thank you so much for reading this post, and we hope to hear from you and please help us get the word out by telling your friends!

We recently got to work with the lovely Ms Kim, a Breast Cancer survivor and she was good enough to let us tell her story, to watch her moving story see her video here.

Special thanks to our two incredible models for this fundraiser, if you think you might recognize then then you might be right!

Having trouble deciding what to bring for your boudoir photography session?

Not to worry, we’ve got some pointers to help get you started, and once you are in the studio our stylists will help you perfect the look you are shooting for (that was an awful pun, but I couldn’t help myself!). One thing to remember is that whether you want to bring in something you already have or splurge on something new to wear, you will get more out of any one outfit than you might think.  There are many different ways to be photographed with any given wardrobe change (e.g. different pieces on or off, adding or taking away a prop, changing studio sets, etc.), and our team has a great eye for what is most flattering for you as an individual.         Seattle Boudoir Photography                  Seattle Boudoir Photography
Seattle Boudoir Photography One key element to keep in mind as you decide what to bring is the story you want your photographs to tell.  Of course you will look great no matter what, but each client is unique so feel free to express that!  If you are a lingerie kind of girl, bring in some fab garter belts and heels.  If you are the outdoorsy type, bring in some of your gear.  If your partner has a uniform, try to sneak it away for a few hours.  Items with emotional value are also great to bring as we can easily highlight things such as rings, dog tags, a special bottle of wine, etc.  These are just a few of the ideas that some of our clients have already had and achieved great results with.  I mean seriously, imagine how badass you could look in your rock climbing harness and nothing else!

Introducing the Fun and Flirty Girl, the Professional Futzer, and the Honorary Girl

We just got our new business cards in, and they look great.  We wanted to do a refresh on our marketing materials and make them a lot more fun and impactful.  We ended up going with a lovely merlot red color with a interesting font.  On the other side (not visible below) we have  one of our beautiful photographs.  We actually have a series of cards with different photographs for people to collect.    If you look closely you will see that each one has a professional title and a silly (but true) one!   We wanted to represent both what we each do in the studio but also add have something fun with a little bit of an inside story.

I feel a little left out, seeing as this project was started before I joined and I didn’t get any cards this time, but I’m told I will get some soon :)    However one issue is that my silly name is still undecided, and I’m curious to see what it turns out to be, votes are coming in as we speak  – keep an eye out for that breaking news…

If this is the first time visiting the site feel free to read more about the fablous Seattle Boudoir Photography team here :)

And now a bit more about the cards themselves…These cards were designed by Shanda Smith, CEO and owner of Pixel Soup.   Phil met Shanda a number of months ago and he was quite impressed with her designs and creativity.  If any small or medium business is looking to refresh their brand logo or marketing materials designs, you should check her out.  Her designs are both fun and effective at conveying your message and she is a complete doll as well.  You can find her at www.pixelsoupcreative.com

Next we need to update our web site a little to reflect the color changes.

Heat up your summer wedding!

Being the newest member of the Seattle Boudoir Photography team has been a ton of fun, but it also means that I DO everything that everyone else DOESN’T want to do.  Case in point:  I got a text an hour and a half before work yesterday morning saying, “Hey honey, today is almost certainly a video day!” which gave me an hour to find something cute to wear and come to grips with the fact that I would be on camera.  Did I mention that people find it ridiculous when a photographer is themselves camera shy?  Yeah, well that’s me.

In the end, the whole video thing turned out just fine.  I may have had way more bloopers than usable takes, but at least now our newest offer is up online for grabs, which brings me to the point of this whole blog – the Summer Bride promotional package!   This is a perfect opportunity for brides (or grooms!)-to-be to enjoy a boudoir session here at Seattle Boudoir Photography and get a great set of photographs that would make a fantastic wedding gift or honeymoon surprise.

Are you looking for a fresh and different Bachelorette Party idea?

A couple of years ago one of my dear friends got married.  She is this amazing, leopard print wearing, 80’s listening, dog loving, dancing queen,  pixie-sized woman with a wicked sense of humor, and I had the wonderfully special title of Maid of Honor at her wedding.  Therefore I was in charge of not only writing a humorous-yet-touching toast but, almost more importantly, planning the bachelorette party.  I went with the classic combo of limo and lemon drops and stuffing $1 bills into buff boys’ spandex fantasy outfits to celebrate her last few days of ‘freedom.’  Needless to say she and I have lots of photos in our secret archives that prove we had a fantastic time :)

Fast-forward to the present, and I am once again the Maid of Honor for another amazing friend.  I knew the toast would be a piece of cake because of all the hilarious stories I have to choose to from!  For the party, however, I was struggling to find an idea that was fresh and different.  I wanted to host  an event where we could all have fun and connect, but also have it be more memorable and creative than the first rounds of parties we had already experienced in the past.  Then it hit me – boudoir!  Groups of two or three women often come in to the studio together for their own separate boudoir photo sessions, and they always have a total blast laughing, drinking champagne, and getting pampered by our professional staff.  Given the past experiences of women in the studio, I knew that the bride-to-be and her friends would love getting together for a photo session.

And so the Boudoir Bachelorette Party was born…Yay!  More deets about the services included in this new package offer can be found in our about section, or just click here – you know you want to!
