Putting it all together.19

This past Saturday Seattle Boudoir Photography had the pleasure of being involved in the first “Putting It All Together” event by Tracy Saunders. Tracy is a make-up artist with years of experience working with Dior, Bare Escentuals and MAC just to name a few. This event also included Renessa Rios of Three Step Dating   – get her new book, Date Right …or stay single forever.

Just under 20 sassy ladies turned out for this super fun event! Tracy showed us some easy (yes I said easy) tips and tricks to jazz up our make-up routines for day and for night. You may be surprised just how far a little bit of make-up can go, when you know what to do with it.  Renessa talked about the importance of self love over seeking the love of another for fulfillment and how that self love and self respect will resonate in every aspect of your life.  We got to talk about how much WE LOVE WHAT WE DO. For us, there is absolutely no reason you shouldn’t come to the studio for a boudoir session. Doesn’t matter if you’re single, you think you need to drop ten pounds, you’re a mom; you should do this for YOU. Sure it might sound a little scary but once you’ve done it, you’ll feel more empowered than you have in a very long time.

We capped off our night with hitting a local restaurant for some dancing and had an absolutely fabulous time.  Some of us took advantage of the skills we learned that evening (wink, wink)…  Here are a few before and after photographs that we took of Tracy’s creative work.

We’re thankful to Tracy and Renessa for taking their time to make this event happen and we’re very much looking forward to more “Putting It All Together” events in the future. Cheers ladies!

Calling our Groupon clients

February 12, 2011 by

Back in December we had a Groupon Promotion and fortunately for us and quite a few eager clients, we sold out just before noon.  Hooray!

Although the Groupon offer is good for one year, we’d like to remind those of you who purchased it not to wait until November to book because we may not be able to get you into a session.   We know this can be a little scary, or there can be a million and one excuses to procrastinate booking your session.  Maybe your wedding is coming up or you feel you need to lose a couple more pounds. We understand.  But just remember we know you’re beautiful right now, so there’s no better time than the present to enjoy a good old ego boost. You may be gifting to your fiancé’ or husband or lover but remember the experience is all yours.

For those nervous ladies give us a call and we’ll can schedule a pre-shoot consultation and this will be helpful to you to overcome any fears as you meet the team and get the chance to answer all and any questions.   One of the common questions we get is how far in advance should you schedule your session before your prints are ready?  Although the time varies a little depending on what you ended up ordering, but a general rule you should book your session no later than 6 weeks prior to the date that you would like to present any gift.   Our schedule varies from week to week, but typically we photograph our clients on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  The other days are left for client preview meetings, studio tours and all the production work that goes into producing your amazing photographs.   We typically book out anywhere between 2-4 weeks ahead so also factor that into scheduling your session, our most popular days are Saturdays and those can be booked two months out especially with wedding season and the holidays.   That said we do have cancellations of course and if you desired date isn’t available we can add you to our waiting list just in case someone moves their session.

We look forward to seeing you very soon!   Lots of love from the entire team.

Holiday Shoot and Product Deadlines

October 22, 2010 by

Yes, we know it’s already October 22th, we also know that many of us haven’t even begun to think about the holiday goings on and what to gift to your special someone.  Just an idea; how about a super sexy boudoir session with us! Here at the studio we are on the periphery of one of our busiest times of year with deadlines looming.

If you‘re thinking an album would be a pretty fantastic gift, you’re right, you’ll just need to book your session no later than Saturday, Nov. 13th and design your album with Erin by Nov. 30th. That’s plenty of time to gather your confidence and wardrobe for your time in the spotlight. If you’re already a client and you’re looking to purchase a holiday album or even book a mini session, the same timeline applies.

For you last minute gifters, we’re booking sessions through Dec. 4th, for those quick turnaround pieces such a folios, prints or a little something for your wall. Folios make great teaser gifts and you can always bring your sweetheart back into the studio once the holiday hububaloo calms down to order more.

We want to make the holidays as special as we can for both you and your partner, so if you cannot make these dates, please do not hesitate to call us here at the studio. We’ll do our best to accommodate any urgent requests.

Thanks, Nicole

The Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival

The Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival is opening in a few days, October 15 to the 24th.   If you haven’t yet viewed the trailer you can see that here

About 20 seconds into the trailer you see this lady in a wheel chair, we had the pleasure of working with her and her lovely wife a few months ago in our boudoir photography studio.  We got really wonderful photographs of both of them and they were both more than pleased with the results, as well as the experience. Ms S let us know that Ms N had this small role in the promotion video. Below is the short note she wrote us and a few of their photographs. Enjoy. And thank you so very much M-S!

Hi Nicole,
I meant to tell you in my last email that Ms S is in the promo trailer for the Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival and it is largely because of the photo you took of her. I sent the photo that you took of her to the casting people for the trailer and they loved it! In the note she sent, she explained she was in a power chair, and that although they were specifically looking for people to run in the film, she would love a chance to be in it. They ended up making a part especially for her. They told her that they knew she would be great because she obviously had a lot of personality as evidenced by the photo you took of her. I just thought that you and Phil might enjoy hearing the story.

Ms L came into our studio a few weeks ago with one of her best friends and we had a whole lot of fun working with them both.

We had lots outfits that day, but we love this simple gray top with a beautiful lingerie set underneath. Thanks Ms L for allowing us to share, simply beautiful :)

Check out this fine lady from Texas

This fine little philly is originally from Texas. Ms. L came to Seattle Boudoir as a client doing this “just for her own ego”. Inside she felt great about herself and wanted a little tangible reminder of how hot she is/was, for when she’s older. She rolled in with two friends and a suitcase. Yes, I said suitcase. No one has ever arrived with so many matching lingerie sets as Ms. L, and for good reason, we had lots to accomplish that day and she was certainly up for the task.

As you’ll see below, she got the reminder that she wanted and needed. And hopefully her gal pals will be back for their own personalized Seattle Boudoir Photography shoots.

Mother. Wife. Woman. – Beautiful Boudoir Photography Previews

Ms. B was so bubbly and genuinely excited about her session. She did the session as a 5th anniversary gift to her husband, who said he wanted “a picture of her ass”, so she did him one better. Ms. B arrived with the cutest grin I ever did see. She brought these stripped knee socks and bubblegum pink bra and just had a blast. A little like a kid in a candy store, she giggled her way through her session. In the end fun was had by all and her husband got exactly what he wanted (not that he didn’t have it already).  Thank you Ms. B!

Offbeat Bride | Why you should consider boudoir photos. Or, how I learned to stop worrying and love my body

July 7, 2010 by
Filed under Blog, Boudoir Photography Previews, Featured

Ms N, as the sassy ladies at Offbeat Bride refer to her, totally kicked ass. She first came to us via the good ole’ telephone, saying “I think this would be a really cool gift for my fiancé, but I’m kinda’ plus size (giggle, giggle) and pretty nervous”. So I said “how plus size”? Because truth be told I didn’t care but I wanted her to realize maybe she was being a little over critical. It didn’t matter. What mattered was that she was nervous, so we invited her for a studio tour to let go of some of that nervousness.

We talked wardrobe and theme and got her into a better head space about something that not only was she doing for her husband to be but more importantly for her. She didn’t of course realize how much this would do for her until, drum roll please, the day of her shoot.  And BAM!  There she was, insecurities, anxiousness, and concerns, out the window.

She had the best time experiencing the reason why we, Seattle Boudoir Photography, are here.  Because every one of us should feel a little more self love and appreciation for who we are and; how BEAUTIFUL we really are. That’s the point. No matter what it means for you, there really isn’t any reason why you shouldn’t have a boudoir photography session with us.  Chances are it’ll be a little different than you think and be even more meaningful than you can imagine.

Ms N decided to write about her experiences on OffBeat Bride to give other women the encouragement to do their own boudoir shoot.   Her article is pasted below with a full link at the end.   Thanks a lot Ms N, you made our day, love Nicole.

OBT member Ms. N wrote a wedding planning update in which she shared her experiences during her boudior photography shoot. Ariel and I loved its message so much that we thought we’d share it with you. -Megan

Let me preface this with two things…

  • First, I have never been the type to want to be immortalized in my unmentionables (i.e., I never thought I would want to get photographed in my undies before). It wasn’t something that I had been dying to do all my life.
  • Second, I am a plus-size girl who is not altogether comfortable with her body and who consistently has some self-love issues.

That being said, let me tell you why you (yes, YOU) should consider boudoir photography…

The sexy Ms. N rockin’ the boudoir shoot, shared with her permission

This past Saturday I had a boudoir shoot with Seattle Boudoir Photography [a previous obb sponsor] and it was honestly the most liberating experience of my life. I was nervous and apprehensive going into it. I’ve never been completely comfortable with my body, and even less so now that I am in my 30s and have stretch marks and scars and even some lovely VEINS that mark who I am and where I’ve been throughout the past 32 years. I kept having the thought in my head that these people who would see me half-naked would be completely grossed out and would be disappointed that they could not make me look decent in any photos.

Boy, was I wrong.

I got to spend 2 hours with amazing people who, very honestly and sincerely, thought that I looked beautiful, and did everything they could to make sure that I knew it. And not only KNEW it, but FELT it, too. Nobody ever once looked at me and said, “Oh, I sure wish you were thinner,” or “Wow, those stretch marks really take away from this photo.” What I heard instead was, “Oh, you have killer boobs!” and “You look so hot in that pose, for real!” I could NOT believe my ears. And really, that was all it took for me to suddenly realize this:

I’m freakin’ HOT!

It doesn’t matter about size or scars or weight or anything. What matters is how you FEEL. And I have never been more amazed at how comfortable I could be with myself.

So. If you can swing it, you should totally consider boudoir photography because:

  1. You get to be comfortable in your own body, even if you were already.
  2. Lots of people complimenting you and telling you how hot you look!
  3. Did I mention the wonders it does for your self-esteem?
  4. It’s an excuse to buy really cute lingerie.
  5. Again — what better way to encourage self-love?

Seattle Boudoir Photography previews of the lovely Ms V

I heart Miss V!

V, as I so lovingly refer to her, is awesome. From the start she was amped about doing her own boudoir photography session but she was definitely nervous. Her husband actually got the shoot as a gift for her around Valentine’s Day but with specific instructions that this gift was just for her. He loves his wife and thinks she’s beautiful, she did however, need a reminder. So V came to us for a studio tour and pre-shoot consultation and man of man did she have a lot of questions. By the time we were finished (almost two hours later!) she had all but picked out the product she wanted. Everything V does, she does 100% and with gusto, so when shoot day came she was ready, set, go. From her attitude to her a wardrobe to her choice to bring a friend, she was committed to enjoying herself to the fullest. And enjoy herself she did! She laughed (giggled really), danced and posed the afternoon away. As you’ll see below her photos are gorgeous and when she arrived to pick up the 12×12 folio and the Gallery Framed wall art with, not 1 but 3, 8×10 photos, she was ecstatic.

Happy Monday, Nicole :)

What woman doesn’t enjoy a good sale? Here’s a little something to get you in the mood for the Spring and your upcoming Seattle Boudoir Photography session…

As some of you may know we are partnered with a fantastic little gem of a lingerie boutique in University Village, Zovo Lingerie. Zovo is in the midst of its 5th Annual Bra Event! This is pretty exciting for a few reasons; 1) The staff at Zovo really know their stuff. No matter what you cup size, they’ve got you covered (no pun intended). 2)They carry familiar brands like Cosabella and bTempted and not so familiar ones like UK line Fauve and French line Simone Perele. 3) If you can get a $130 bra for 60% off why wouldn’t you? Click the link below for a preview and set aside some time to go see the lovely ladies at Zovo. You won’t regret it!

Also, if you’re a gal who loves a good corset than this sale is right up your alley! Corsets can a little bit difficult to manage (albeit, worth it) but can be a little less so when you order custom from Absolute Corsets. These ladies have a deal and a half going right now so take advantage before it’s gone. They’ve got overbust corsets, underbust corsets and even bloomers and petticoats. Choose from a number of different deals.

From pricing to wardrobe selection and styling to ideas of how to present such a fantastic gift and so on. So come by for your exclusive, “Bubbles and Berries” tour and the only requirement… that you bring a friend. Girlfriend, boyfriend, doesn’t matter. Who wants to have champagne and strawberries alone?  I know you don’t. See you soon!

So pick up the phone or log into your email to connect with Nicole and schedule your studio visit today.  Here’s a quick sneak peak of our fun entry way into the studio.

We can’t wait to hear from you! Hugs and Kisses! Nicole :)

Check out Ms S awesome array of props

Ms S is stunningly beautiful and an outdoor enthusiast.  For her boudoir shoot she did not bring much that would be considered standard, but she really nailed her wardrobe by using an array of awesome props.  She went with a range of outfits that really represented her personality and interests, from a pair of skis to a climbing harness replete with D-rings and a helmet!  So far she is the only one who has brought that combination of pieces in, so we really had fun with the creativity of it all.  It just goes to show that a boudoir shoot is truly about highlighting you, and that is one of the sexiest things that can be captured in a photograph.

The Proposal – a really romantic valentines weekend!

February 27, 2010 by

We were incredibly busy before Valentine’s Day. In fact we were crazy busy until the very last second. We had girlfriends and wives giving gifts to their men. We had women in the military giving “I hope this tides you over” albums.   We had a few couples’ shoots.   It was so much fun and we loved working with all of our wonderful clients.

One of the highlights for us was a marriage proposal that actually happened in our photography studio in Seattle.  Aaron contacted me about a month before their session via email wondering if he could set up a boudoir photography shoot for himself and his girlfriend, Shayla.  He was coming into town for a conference and planned to fly Shayla up for a romantic valentine’s weekend away.  As I worked with Aaron on scheduling and planning their session he told me that he had decided to propose to Shayla directly after their shoot.  Let me just say that two emails into this mission, I wanted an Aaron all my own. He was so into it, so in love and so excited.  A few emails and a few phone calls later it was on! I just had to get the entire team on the same page. Oh the stress… Don’t slip up, don’t ask the wrong question, don’t do this and don’t say that. I swear I was as nervous as Aaron. Ok, not quite but come on.

So the finishing touch in our little plan was to finish up the shoot and present Shayla with a “thank you” gift from the team which wasn’t actually from us, but contained a beautiful engagement ring that Aaron had helped design for her.   We queued a special song on Aaron’s iPod, which he sang, played instruments for and re-recorded in his mini home studio by , we all got out of the way of the video camera and each and every one of us proceeded to cry, cry and cry some more.   The specifics are a little hard to hear above the music and the crying, but the gist of what is heard is ….. Crying..  Aaron:  “So now you don’t speak …. …… ….. We are obviously sole mates …. ….. ….  I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?”  Shayla nods her head weeping.  And here you have it, the most romantic thing that has happened at Seattle Boudoir Photography thus far…
