A nice thank you

July 9, 2010 by Phil
Filed under Blog, Tips For Your Session

We just received a nice little thank you email from one of our clients that came into our photography studio in Seattle on Wednesday.  For the moment lets call her Ms S, we had such a blast with her and she so so much fun.  For the second part of her shoot we ended up using a whole lot of mud and water on one of the sets.  I’m not sure if she will let us post any of her photographs yet and share the theme behind the mud, but we know hubby will be very happy when he receives his gift!   Note below,

I just wanted to write to say thank you for the experience yesterday!  You and your crew were amazing!  Your girls totally helped me feel comfortable and I truly enjoyed working with you all.  I cannot wait to see the photographs on the 20th!

Happy Friday everyone :)

Seattle Brides – Get toned for your wedding day

Guest Post by Sara Dean.

Sara.05.Sutherland.Dean.SeattleBoudoirPhotography.COLOR.LOW Hello Seattle Brides!   I love this time of year.  Helping brides prepare for their big day is so exciting.  I have lovely ladies of Seattle come to Sync Fitness every year to get their rears in gear for their wedding day.  Of course every bride has her own body wish list: cut shoulders, 6 pack abs, ripped back, smaller hips, firm buns and toned guns.  We work hard to check off each item on that wish list. Of course, every bride wants to get the best results in the shortest amount of time (because, let’s face it, as a bride-to-be, there are NEVER enough hours on the day!)  So my secret weapon for brides is combining strength and cardio into each and every workout.  This is entirely possible and can be done in a short amount of time.  Give me 30 minutes and I’ll have you huffing and puffing and begging for more!  The key is to keep your heart rate soaring during your workout.  So choose exercises that make you pant!  Here’s a little sample workout that you can do in under 30 minutes:

  • Jumping Jacks
  • Push Ups
  • Walking Lunges
  • Pull Ups (weight assisted or negatives if needed)
  • Plank
  • Body Weight Squats (GET LOW!)
  • Mountain Climbers
  • Full Sit Ups
  • Burpees
  • Tricep Dips
  • Jump Squats

***Perform each exercise for 30 seconds.  Perform 3 rounds of this workout.  Try not to rest between exercises.  Rest for a FULL TWO MINUTES between rounds.  This rest will allow you to PUSH, PUSH, PUSH during each round.  ***

These are the kind of workouts you can find me doing with my bridal clients in my Boot Camps at Gasworks Park.  If you’re interested in checking out Boot Camp, click here for full details.  Please contact Sync Fitness to ask about bridal discounts!  I hope to hear from you. I would love to make you sweat!

Seattle Boudoir Photography previews of Ms C

There are many reasons that our clients come into our fabulous photography studio in Seattle.   Just a few examples are …..they have a wonderful new boyfriend that they are excited about, they have a guy serving overseas in the military that they miss, they are getting married and they want to remind him how lucky he is, it’s his birthday and its about him, they are celebrating XX years of marriage and want to spice up their relationship.  We have so many more that are way too personal to share here.      I know we shouldn’t pick our favorites, so I won’t exactly, but up there close to the top has it be “because it’s just about you and no other reason”.

Ms C is one of those amazing ladies that decided to do her own boudoir photography shoot for no other reason than she is simply beautiful and she wanted to celebrate that.  She has this amazing energy and love for life and this completely came out in her shoot and photographs.   She was a pure delight to have in the studio and we had such an amazing time with her and her many friends that we have seen since.   Here are a few of her favorite photographs, she looks simply beautiful.

In addition to having lots of fun and ending up with multiple photographs that she loved, she also wanted to have some of her photographs framed and placed on her wall.  We specialize in this and nothing gets us and especially our wonderful framer Kim excited than having our clients on their walls.  We worked with Mc C to select some beautiful silver frames that are going to look amazing with the photographs and her home décor.  A quick iPhone snap shot on all three pieces with Nicole below.   We can’t wait to see what these get hung.

Seattle Boudoir Photography presents Ms L

Check out these simply lovely photographs of Ms L.  When she came into the studio she was a little nervous at first, but after sitting down with one of our amazing hair and makeup artists, the lovely Jen, she soon relaxed and started to come out of her shell.  We ended up using three completely different sets and outfits that day giving her a wonderful range of choices for her final prints.  Here are some of her favorites that we loved.  Although its fair to say that hubby wasn’t content with just a few photographs as he ordered a beautiful 40 photograph album that we did a whole bunch of design work on, which they just love :)

Seattle Boudoir Photography black white previews

Ms A came into our boudoir photography studio in Seattle after a recommendation from one of her best friends who had visited us last year.   We had a huge amount of fun with her and as you can tell from these few photographs we ended up going for a very moody look for her shoot.  I especially like the nurse props that she brought in with her, not surprising really as she is a nurse.   I’m excited to see her again as apparently her hubby wants to come back in and see all of the other photographs which isn’t surprising :)

Ms M came into our studio a while ago and I’m super happy to report that she gave us permission to use her photographs online.  Like many of our clients she is a military lady although you would never guess it looking at these beautiful and sexy photographs.   Nicole and I both did a double take when she came back into the studio for her Preview Meeting in her military greens, just so differant from her lingerie!  I just love the outfit choices that she came in with and the colors popped so well contrasting with her beautiful fair skin.    Happy Friday everyone :)

Seattle Boudoir Photographs of Ms J – the smoking hot Santa

January 4, 2010 by Phil

Anyone that has visited our photography studio in Seattle during the last few months will know that we have been dealing with a large window replacement project.  This started way back in the summer in the 90 degree temperatures that seem like a distant memory now and its only just wrapping up now!   To say that this has been driving me nuts would be an understatement but the results are going to be wonderful with new windows that don’t leak – yeah!   However maybe there is another good side to this, as the one thing that we pride ourselves on as a photography studio is being flexible and creative when dealing with challenges and this has certainly given us a few challenges!   So, a few weeks before the holidays when we found ourselves with this rather large and very yellow piece of scaffold in one part of the studio rather than cancel the sessions that we had that day we adapted the studio and used the scaffold as one of our sets.

This set of previews was of our second client that day, the wonderful Ms J and here she is on the scaffold.   She came into our photography studio with a tall order – to create a series of pin-up-style photos from which a tattoo for her boyfriend would be designed.   Now we have lots of our clients that have tattoo’s but this is the first time our photographs were going to be used as the inspiration for the tattoo.   She was really happy with the results of her shoot and is contemplating having a poster designed as well.

Now I realize the holiday season is basically gone now, but we couldn’t resist posting some of her ‘Smoking Hot Santa’ series.  This was the last set of the day and when we used the scaffold to create something fun and different from her.  I still smile at ‘The Original Multi-Purpose’ label on the scaffold, I can’t imagine that the creators ever thought that it would ever have this purpose.

With that said, here is the Hot Santa and the Scaffold, enjoy.

And, in the spirit of the season, we’d like to share this little present with you –  it’s all wrapped up with a bow and everything :)

Some silly outtakes of Merilee – the lighting maven

September 2, 2009 by Phil

After taking a couple days off after an amazing boudoir weekend here in our studio in Seattle we gearing up for another busy week.   We’ve started to go through the many 100’s of photographs that were taken of our amazing clients that visited this weekend and are super excited to see them later this week and next to show them our selection.   I realize that I’m a little bias (really ?!?!?)  but from what I have seen so far we got some lovely shots- thank you for being so beautiful and wonderful to work with our lovely clients :)

As part of the process we always have a bunch of outtakes of the team and tonight I thought I would post these, mostly of Merilee this time, with a brief cameo from Nicole.   Before each client comes on the different sets Merilee and I test and make any last minute adjustments to the lighting based on the outfits that clients are wearing and the mood we are going for.   Seeing as I’m typically behind the camera, I torture Merilee with her sitting, standing, climbing or her favorite laying down and ask her to pose for me.  And at times it gets a little silly as you can see from these – fun times for sure!

Today we sent out our first edition of ‘Tales from the Boudoir’ our newsletter.  Its been a fun couple of weeks working on the content and the design – we are super happy with it all.  In the first edition, as well as introducing the team we previewed our new breast cancer fundraiser that we are all excited to be preparing for,  a new referral program and our first client and friends soiree that is coming up in a few weeks.

If for some reason we forgot to include you (sorry) or its your first visit to our web site,  just go to our newsletter signup area and we send it out to you straight away.   Here is a quick screen grab of the opening section.   The newsletter was designed by Heather Musil of Little Bird Web Design & Development.  I’ve worked with Heather before, she does excellent work and is great to work with.  If anyone wants to develop a newsletter I would definitely recommend Heather and her work is for sure worth checking out.

If you got the newsletter what did you think?    Did it look good on your monitor and email program?    Is there content areas that you would like us to include in future editions?    We would love to hear feedback from you, good and bad.
