Check out this fine lady from Texas

This fine little philly is originally from Texas. Ms. L came to Seattle Boudoir as a client doing this “just for her own ego”. Inside she felt great about herself and wanted a little tangible reminder of how hot she is/was, for when she’s older. She rolled in with two friends and a suitcase. Yes, I said suitcase. No one has ever arrived with so many matching lingerie sets as Ms. L, and for good reason, we had lots to accomplish that day and she was certainly up for the task.

As you’ll see below, she got the reminder that she wanted and needed. And hopefully her gal pals will be back for their own personalized Seattle Boudoir Photography shoots.

Mother. Wife. Woman. – Beautiful Boudoir Photography Previews

Ms. B was so bubbly and genuinely excited about her session. She did the session as a 5th anniversary gift to her husband, who said he wanted “a picture of her ass”, so she did him one better. Ms. B arrived with the cutest grin I ever did see. She brought these stripped knee socks and bubblegum pink bra and just had a blast. A little like a kid in a candy store, she giggled her way through her session. In the end fun was had by all and her husband got exactly what he wanted (not that he didn’t have it already).  Thank you Ms. B!

From Both Sides of the Lens: A Client’s Day as an Assistant Futzer

Guest post by Ms D.

I am one of Seattle Boudoir’s clients.  When I decided to do a boudoir shoot it was all about me.  I’m a wife and mother to one wonderful four year old boy.  I work full time and I spend most of my free time doing errands.  Sound familiar?  For years after I had my son I tried to forget my body.  It was the last thing I wanted to think about.  You’ve got these new boobs and this little creature pawing at you all the time.  Feeling sexy was last on my list.  But then something clicked a few months back and I decided it was time to acknowledge I had a body again.  Reconnect with myself and let out my wild side.

First up, Nicole handed me a glass of “champers.”  It would be good to mention that photographer Phil Holden is British, so I think that means he is allowed to make up his own words.  Then make-up artist Jane and stylist Nicole stood back and took a good look at me in my rumpled top and too-big jeans. But they see enough ladies in there that they put me at ease and could see past my baby pooch to the sexy lady I wanted to feel like.  My nervousness and uncertainty melted away while I was pampered and made to feel like the star of my own show by Phil, Nicole, Jane, and Kim.

Since then I have been back to visit the other side of the camera as an assistant “futzer” aka someone who makes sure everything is in the right place.  I gained a new appreciation for all the work that goes into the shoots the team does sometimes three or four times a day and also the effect that it has on each individual who comes into the studio.  The clients that day ranged from a spontaneous boudoir photo session on a weekend getaway, to a surprise for a military homecoming, to the ever popular present for a bride to give her soon to be very pleased husband.  One client came in with nothing but the clothes on her back and another came in with tons of choices.  In both situations the team’s inventiveness shined through.

After the team has a chance to meet you and see what is important to you they stage several scenes for your photos.  That day we had one client squirted down with a water bottle for that “wet t-shirt” look.  We also had a casual sexy scene with a football jersey on a couch.  I can tell you her husband would certainly have stopped watching the game if he saw that!  And one client got to lounge on a reindeer pelt.  These sets are designed on the spot and are individual to each client.

Another client’s advice I heard is a sure thing to pass on to all of you.  Do not work out the day of your shoot.  The team will give you their own brand of work out.  They are constantly there to make sure that every part of you is in line for the perfect shot. It’s not easy looking beautiful.  “Stick out your girls!”  Phil, I want a shirt that says that.

As each client left and a new one entered it was awesome to see how the nervous smiles in the beginning turned into knowing grins, the same one I walked out with.  I got the privilege of telling the amazing Seattle Boudoir Photography clients just how fabulous they are.  In each instance I am sure that Phil captured that on film.  And I can tell you from experience (that’s me below).

Offbeat Bride | Why you should consider boudoir photos. Or, how I learned to stop worrying and love my body

Ms N, as the sassy ladies at Offbeat Bride refer to her, totally kicked ass. She first came to us via the good ole’ telephone, saying “I think this would be a really cool gift for my fiancé, but I’m kinda’ plus size (giggle, giggle) and pretty nervous”. So I said “how plus size”? Because truth be told I didn’t care but I wanted her to realize maybe she was being a little over critical. It didn’t matter. What mattered was that she was nervous, so we invited her for a studio tour to let go of some of that nervousness.

We talked wardrobe and theme and got her into a better head space about something that not only was she doing for her husband to be but more importantly for her. She didn’t of course realize how much this would do for her until, drum roll please, the day of her shoot.  And BAM!  There she was, insecurities, anxiousness, and concerns, out the window.

She had the best time experiencing the reason why we, Seattle Boudoir Photography, are here.  Because every one of us should feel a little more self love and appreciation for who we are and; how BEAUTIFUL we really are. That’s the point. No matter what it means for you, there really isn’t any reason why you shouldn’t have a boudoir photography session with us.  Chances are it’ll be a little different than you think and be even more meaningful than you can imagine.

Ms N decided to write about her experiences on OffBeat Bride to give other women the encouragement to do their own boudoir shoot.   Her article is pasted below with a full link at the end.   Thanks a lot Ms N, you made our day, love Nicole.

OBT member Ms. N wrote a wedding planning update in which she shared her experiences during her boudior photography shoot. Ariel and I loved its message so much that we thought we’d share it with you. -Megan

Let me preface this with two things…

  • First, I have never been the type to want to be immortalized in my unmentionables (i.e., I never thought I would want to get photographed in my undies before). It wasn’t something that I had been dying to do all my life.
  • Second, I am a plus-size girl who is not altogether comfortable with her body and who consistently has some self-love issues.

That being said, let me tell you why you (yes, YOU) should consider boudoir photography…

The sexy Ms. N rockin’ the boudoir shoot, shared with her permission

This past Saturday I had a boudoir shoot with Seattle Boudoir Photography [a previous obb sponsor] and it was honestly the most liberating experience of my life. I was nervous and apprehensive going into it. I’ve never been completely comfortable with my body, and even less so now that I am in my 30s and have stretch marks and scars and even some lovely VEINS that mark who I am and where I’ve been throughout the past 32 years. I kept having the thought in my head that these people who would see me half-naked would be completely grossed out and would be disappointed that they could not make me look decent in any photos.

Boy, was I wrong.

I got to spend 2 hours with amazing people who, very honestly and sincerely, thought that I looked beautiful, and did everything they could to make sure that I knew it. And not only KNEW it, but FELT it, too. Nobody ever once looked at me and said, “Oh, I sure wish you were thinner,” or “Wow, those stretch marks really take away from this photo.” What I heard instead was, “Oh, you have killer boobs!” and “You look so hot in that pose, for real!” I could NOT believe my ears. And really, that was all it took for me to suddenly realize this:

I’m freakin’ HOT!

It doesn’t matter about size or scars or weight or anything. What matters is how you FEEL. And I have never been more amazed at how comfortable I could be with myself.

So. If you can swing it, you should totally consider boudoir photography because:

  1. You get to be comfortable in your own body, even if you were already.
  2. Lots of people complimenting you and telling you how hot you look!
  3. Did I mention the wonders it does for your self-esteem?
  4. It’s an excuse to buy really cute lingerie.
  5. Again — what better way to encourage self-love?

Seattle Boudoir Photography previews of Ms C

There are many reasons that our clients come into our fabulous photography studio in Seattle.   Just a few examples are …..they have a wonderful new boyfriend that they are excited about, they have a guy serving overseas in the military that they miss, they are getting married and they want to remind him how lucky he is, it’s his birthday and its about him, they are celebrating XX years of marriage and want to spice up their relationship.  We have so many more that are way too personal to share here.      I know we shouldn’t pick our favorites, so I won’t exactly, but up there close to the top has it be “because it’s just about you and no other reason”.

Ms C is one of those amazing ladies that decided to do her own boudoir photography shoot for no other reason than she is simply beautiful and she wanted to celebrate that.  She has this amazing energy and love for life and this completely came out in her shoot and photographs.   She was a pure delight to have in the studio and we had such an amazing time with her and her many friends that we have seen since.   Here are a few of her favorite photographs, she looks simply beautiful.

In addition to having lots of fun and ending up with multiple photographs that she loved, she also wanted to have some of her photographs framed and placed on her wall.  We specialize in this and nothing gets us and especially our wonderful framer Kim excited than having our clients on their walls.  We worked with Mc C to select some beautiful silver frames that are going to look amazing with the photographs and her home décor.  A quick iPhone snap shot on all three pieces with Nicole below.   We can’t wait to see what these get hung.

Seattle Boudoir Photography previews of the lovely Ms V

I heart Miss V!

V, as I so lovingly refer to her, is awesome. From the start she was amped about doing her own boudoir photography session but she was definitely nervous. Her husband actually got the shoot as a gift for her around Valentine’s Day but with specific instructions that this gift was just for her. He loves his wife and thinks she’s beautiful, she did however, need a reminder. So V came to us for a studio tour and pre-shoot consultation and man of man did she have a lot of questions. By the time we were finished (almost two hours later!) she had all but picked out the product she wanted. Everything V does, she does 100% and with gusto, so when shoot day came she was ready, set, go. From her attitude to her a wardrobe to her choice to bring a friend, she was committed to enjoying herself to the fullest. And enjoy herself she did! She laughed (giggled really), danced and posed the afternoon away. As you’ll see below her photos are gorgeous and when she arrived to pick up the 12×12 folio and the Gallery Framed wall art with, not 1 but 3, 8×10 photos, she was ecstatic.

Happy Monday, Nicole :)

Seattle Boudoir Photography presents Ms L

Check out these simply lovely photographs of Ms L.  When she came into the studio she was a little nervous at first, but after sitting down with one of our amazing hair and makeup artists, the lovely Jen, she soon relaxed and started to come out of her shell.  We ended up using three completely different sets and outfits that day giving her a wonderful range of choices for her final prints.  Here are some of her favorites that we loved.  Although its fair to say that hubby wasn’t content with just a few photographs as he ordered a beautiful 40 photograph album that we did a whole bunch of design work on, which they just love :)

Ms A came into our boudoir photography studio in Seattle after a recommendation from one of her best friends who had visited us last year.   We had a huge amount of fun with her and as you can tell from these few photographs we ended up going for a very moody look for her shoot.  I especially like the nurse props that she brought in with her, not surprising really as she is a nurse.   I’m excited to see her again as apparently her hubby wants to come back in and see all of the other photographs which isn’t surprising :)

Ms M came into our studio a while ago and I’m super happy to report that she gave us permission to use her photographs online.  Like many of our clients she is a military lady although you would never guess it looking at these beautiful and sexy photographs.   Nicole and I both did a double take when she came back into the studio for her Preview Meeting in her military greens, just so differant from her lingerie!  I just love the outfit choices that she came in with and the colors popped so well contrasting with her beautiful fair skin.    Happy Friday everyone :)

Seattle Boudoir Photography Preview of Ms E

January 13, 2010 by
Filed under Blog, Boudoir Photography Previews, Featured

Ms E was so much fun to work with!  Her personality was relaxed and open, and that comes through in her lovely photographs.  She did, however, stretch us to the max.  The max height that is.  You should have seen the platform heels she was navigating in – we were all very impressed!  We had to raise our curtain stands as high as they could go because, in those shoes, she was one of the tallest clients we have ever had.  And, of course with those legs, we had to get some great standing shots!  Suffice it to say that I’m sure her boyfriend enjoyed his gift very much :)

Ms E was kind enough to let us post some of her photos, so here are a few!   We will have more coming soon to the main gallery.

Boudoir photographs previews – they sent him over the edge!

Ms A came in for a shoot in our boudoir photography studio in Seattle with some very interesting props.  As well as some beautiful lingerie, she also a fantastic fluffy red feather boa robe and a cute black and white parasol.  Others were more relationship-specific.  Like the Dungeons and Dragons Manual and a mouse, the kind with a USB plug to go along her cat ears.

“My boyfriend is a total geek,” she explained, and she was really excited to incorporate his interests into some of her photographs.  We had a whole bunch of fun with Ms A during her very creative shoot, and we she recently emailed us to let us know that her boyfriend is officially her number one fan – they are engaged!   Our warmest congratulations to the happy couple!    He actually proposed just after receiving his gift of boudoir photographs.  Apparently he had plans to pop the question, but the photographs sent him over the edge and made him realize what a cool chick Ms A was.

So, Seattle ladies who are in a ‘relationship’ and looking to increase the romance why not come in for your own session and see what happens.  No matter what he thinks we will make sure you will have a whole lot of fun, and you will walk away with some beautiful photographs, so give it a try.

The perfect wedding day gift – boudoir photographs of yourself

January 8, 2010 by
Filed under Blog, Boudoir Photography Previews, Featured

As you can probably tell by the beautiful blue sky’s Ms C came in several months ago to create a wedding day gift for her (now) husband.  As well as a hardhat and work jacket that she borrowed from her husband; she had the fantastic idea of bringing in her wedding dress as one of her outfits.  We shot most of her wedding dress in one of our bedroom sets, but we did go outside to the roof top deck first. If you thinking about joining us for a boudoir photography session in Seattle in the summer and want some outdoor shots don’t forget to ask us about our fabulous deck with wonderful Seattle views.

She also brought another accessory – her mom!  We often have clients bring a friend for extra fun and support during a shoot, but this was a great first for us.  As Ms J’s Mum said, “She didn’t know what she was getting into!”  The two of them had a great time, we got Mum’s approval which meant a lot to us, and she got a beautiful photograph of her daughter in her dress.  See for yourself!

Seattle Boudoir Photographs of Ms J – the smoking hot Santa

January 4, 2010 by

Anyone that has visited our photography studio in Seattle during the last few months will know that we have been dealing with a large window replacement project.  This started way back in the summer in the 90 degree temperatures that seem like a distant memory now and its only just wrapping up now!   To say that this has been driving me nuts would be an understatement but the results are going to be wonderful with new windows that don’t leak – yeah!   However maybe there is another good side to this, as the one thing that we pride ourselves on as a photography studio is being flexible and creative when dealing with challenges and this has certainly given us a few challenges!   So, a few weeks before the holidays when we found ourselves with this rather large and very yellow piece of scaffold in one part of the studio rather than cancel the sessions that we had that day we adapted the studio and used the scaffold as one of our sets.

This set of previews was of our second client that day, the wonderful Ms J and here she is on the scaffold.   She came into our photography studio with a tall order – to create a series of pin-up-style photos from which a tattoo for her boyfriend would be designed.   Now we have lots of our clients that have tattoo’s but this is the first time our photographs were going to be used as the inspiration for the tattoo.   She was really happy with the results of her shoot and is contemplating having a poster designed as well.

Now I realize the holiday season is basically gone now, but we couldn’t resist posting some of her ‘Smoking Hot Santa’ series.  This was the last set of the day and when we used the scaffold to create something fun and different from her.  I still smile at ‘The Original Multi-Purpose’ label on the scaffold, I can’t imagine that the creators ever thought that it would ever have this purpose.

With that said, here is the Hot Santa and the Scaffold, enjoy.

Beautiful Boudoir Previews for Ms D

January 2, 2010 by

Ms D is simply fantastic. Period.  She came to us with the intention of creating some beautiful pieces for herself and…her wall!  Well, she definitely got what she wanted.  She just picked up an amazing album that we created for her and an awesome 20×26 framed photograph that is “very Andy Warhol”, the one with just her amazing legs and shoes showing.   While she was musing about where to put it, I suggested that she hang it in the back of her truck.  She laughed, but later explained that the windows were tinted.  I’m sure that was the only reason she decided against it.

Anyway, wherever it goes it will look great, just like it does here.       We were super happy that she gave us permission to place her photographs on our site, here are a few from her album as well.       Happy New Year – Merilee.

One of the things that I’m secretly passionate about is being a nerd.  In my own words, being a nerd involves being a crossword puzzle lover, getting the word of the day from dictionary.com, and having an (over) active imagination.  Last week I actually got paid to indulge my nerdiness, and you will all get to benefit from that too – we’ve got a new video up that showcases our brag book package. Melissa and I had a whole lot of fun creating this, we hope you smile when you get to watch my nerdiness.

Happy watching!
